Dr. Rajendra Prasad

Dr. Rajendra Prasad has performed more than 4000 brain & spine operations at the Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, New Delhi in the last 20 years. The most common procedures performed include-

  • Cervical discectomy and fusion (600)

  • Lumbar discectomy and laminotomy for canal stenosis (700)

 

He has introduced cervical and lumbar radiofrequency rhizotomies at Indraprastha Apollo  Hospital and has performed a more than 120 of these procedures in the last 3 years.

​

His particular interest is spine surgery and was instrumental in setting up the Department of Spine Surgery at Apollo Hospital, with him being the sole neuro-spine specialist.​

​

In addition to this, Dr. Prasad has also worked and conducted clinics in several countries like India, Saudi Arabia, Mauritius, Dubai, Tanzania and Nepal.

Education

. 

  • Dr. Prasad obtained the General Surgery FRCS in 1983 from Glasgow.  He was also conferred the FRCS (Neurosurgery) in 1995 by the Inter Collegiate Specialty Board, U.K.

​

  • Between 1995 and 1996, Dr. Prasad completed a Spine Fellowship at the Royal National Orthopedic Hospital, London.

​

  • His Neurosurgical training was in Ireland and England (1979-1987 and 1991-1992) which involved working in prestigious teaching hospitals like Cork Regional Hospital, Cork, National Hospital for Nervous Disease, London, Nottingham University Hospital and Frenchay Hospital, Bristol. 

​

  • Dr. Prasad did his schooling from Ranchi University, India and pre-medical from Ramjas College, Delhi. He graduated from Rajendra Medical College University in 1977.
