WHO Committee on Assistive Technology (AT)

Working with World Health Organization (WHO) as a member of DPR expert group and focusing on AT Provision towards setting up a neuro-rehab AT Centre (the first of its kind in India), based at the Indian Head Injury Foundation Neuro Rehab Centre in New Delhi for selecting and providing low cost Assistive Technologies solutions to persons with disabilities from neurological conditions like traumatic brain injury and others. Patients will be followed-up using smartphone apps and Tele-Rehab.

Indian Head Injury Foundation

The Indian Head Injury Foundation (IHIF) was founded by His Highness Maharaja Gajsingh II of Jodhpur in February 2007, with a mission to build a comprehensive system in India for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of traumatic brain injury, and to provide neuro-rehabilitation to such patients.

At IHIF we have focused on:

  • Working with the government (Ministry of Road Transport and Health) on the new road safety bill which is awaiting approval of the Rajya Sabha.

  • Conducted Primary Trauma Care courses for Doctors and Nurses together with Disaster drill in many parts of the country.

  • Conducted several Neuro-critical care workshops for intensivistists.

  • Supervise the running of two rehabilitation centers at Delhi Commonwealth Women’s association (DCWA), Jamrudpur, New Delhi and Jodhpur with specialized Paedtric units and conducted annual neuro-rehab workshops.

  • Prevention of head injury through awareness workshops for school children and their parents.  We have conducted workshops on road safety in 65 government/ government aided and charitable schools of Delhi where 20,000 children and their parents have been inducted into the IHIF “Ride with Safety” program. Over a three years period, 10,000 high quality standardized ISI approved helmets have been manufactured specially for the age group of 9 to 14 years and distributed during these workshops on gratis basis
